Lillie Mae Charles, 77, of Decatur, IL passed away at 1:55 p.m. on Wednesday (June 9, 2010) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday (June 12, 2010) at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home with visitation two hours prior to services. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery. Mae was born on September 3, 1932 in Bedford, IN, the daughter of Walter Ray and Bertha Mae (Gallion) Allen. She married Charles E. Charles on December 7, 1979. She was a resident of the Oxford House, enjoyed playing bingo and visiting with her countless friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her husband of thirty years: Charles E. Charles of Decatur, IL; sister: Shirley Staggs of Indiana; brother: Jack Allen of Indiana; daughter: Jane Barr and husband Buster of Elwin, IL; son: Robert McPherson and wife Debbie of Decatur, IL; daughter: Joyce DeLong and husband Tom of Fort Branch, IN; son: Joe McPherson and wife Sandi of Decatur, IL; son: Jerry McPherson and wife Mary of Lincoln, IL; step-son: Bobby Charles and wife Bev of Decatur, IL; step-daughter: Betty Persona of Decatur, IL; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister, one grandson and one granddaughter.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff of 5100 for the wonderful care Mae received during her stay at DMH.
